Fling & Fit Community Workshop: Perfecting Movements for Highland Dance sponsored by Fling Together & Fit For Reel This workshop is an in-person workshop with an option for out of town participants to attend via zoom. Recording will be available. Start the dance year off strong with this two part workshop centered around "Perfecting Movements for Highland Dance" through technique work and cross training. This workshop is open to pre-premier & premier dancers & professionals! Part 1: Perfecting Technique Join champion dancer, 2026 Adult World qualifier & passionate dance teacher, Rachael Walker from Scotland. For premiers, Rachael will be focusing on "Perfecting Technique for the 2027 Set Steps". She will share her knowledge and tips for taking your technique to the next level. The pre-premier version of this class will focus on key pieces of technique to polish your overall dancing. Dancers will be sorted into age and level appropriate groups. If needed we may open an additional class for pre-premier dancers, taught by champion dancer and certified teacher, Ciara Wilson from Scotland (now residing in NYC). Part 2: Perfecting Movement through Cross Training Cross training is the perfect complement to technique training and is often the missing piece when working on improving things like turnout and elevation. This portion of class will be lead by Sandy Gribbin who has taken her knowledge as an experienced dancer and certified personal trainer to develop different methods of fitness training, known as Fit for Reel by Studiofit®. Dancers will learn exercises to incorporate in their own practice routines to help take their dancing to the next level. Who This Is For Dancers: This workshop is designed for competitive and recreational Highland dancers looking to elevate their technique and physical conditioning. All levels welcome. Recommended for dancers aged 10 yrs and older. We will divide the workshop into groups to better focus on age and level specific exercises. Professionals: Dance teachers and judges are welcome to attend. Cost $15 for local participants* $25 for all others in person Pay What You Can (starting at $10) for digital tickets.
